Description
John Pierce Cunningham built this small ranch while living as a trapper in Jackson Hole. He permitted two men, riding in from unknown territory, to stay in the cabin and sent one of his partners to stay there with them. Suddenly, it was discovered that these two men were very likely horse thieves and were hiding out here. A posse came and confronted them resulting in a shootout and two dead outlaws. Later, the cabin was used as a fort during the 1895 Indian Scare
